Independent or BirthWorld ?
Ok so basically it comes down to 1 choice….
Do you want clients on autopilot or would you like to get hands on with your own marketing?
See the training is exactly the same, the qualification is exactly the same. You can set you own fees, working hours etc. The only difference is whether you wish your parents to find you through BirthWorld or through your own efforts.
If you opt to offer your service through BirthWorld, we take a small booking fee of £5 as an “introduction fee”. At which point we pass your contact details to the parent them to make direct content with you and arrange the support. This is a one time fee, even if you support them for several appointments or even months!
If you at first decide to join BirthWorld but later decide to go independent – you can also do this. Your qualification and training is not tied to BirthWorld. There are no exit fees or penalties if you ever decide to leave.
You can even do both at the same time, giving you ultimate control and flexibility over your career!
You don’t even have to make the choice now. BirthWorlds’ door is always open and welcoming to anyone who has trained through us.

Hi There, I'm Rebecca
I’ve been working in the world of Midwifery and breastfeeding for over 20 years. As both an IBCLC, practising midwife, and a qualified teacher, breastfeeding education has been at the heart of my career from day one.
I’ve supported thousands of families in their feeding journeys, and 100s students from all over the world with their journeys. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than watching students grow into passionate IBCLCs and develop their skills, confidence, and impact.
Alongside my IBCLC work, I’m a qualified teacher working as a Level 3 assessor for a large online college. I’m particularly passionate about inclusive learning and neurodiversity. I mentor neurodiverse university students both online and in person, and I teach about neurodiversity within NHS maternity services as part of the Maternity Autism Research Group (MARG). My academic research has been published in midwifery journals, and I’m currently preparing to publish my master’s work with the University of Strathclyde.
My teaching style is energetic, supportive, and evidence-driven. I believe great IBCLCs combine science with empathy, understanding physiology deeply, while also knowing how to meet parents where they are. In our training, I’ll help you build both: the clinical expertise and the confidence to guide families through real-world challenges.

There are no huge scary exams, instead there are multiple choice quizzes throughout the course. You need 80% to pass.
The course fee covers all training materials and access to tutorials. There are no other fees charged by Birthworld .. for life
This course is designed for those wanting to support and educate around breastfeeding on a 121 basis supporting parents with their concerns and breastfeeding journeys.
Absolutely! After this course you will be a skilled professional. BirthWorld do not mind you charging for your time and knowledge. In fact we would love you to join us and offer your expertise to our parents.
Breastfeeding counsellors offer private 121 work within parents home giving support with common issues. They are occasionally employed by the NHS
Lactation Consultants can work with both common and more complex needs in a multitude of environments. They are commonly hired by the NHS.
Both can also run breastfeeding education classes with additional teaching skills qualifications.
